Jean Therapy

So you all know how hard it is to find a great pair of jeans and once you do...they become your favorite. Regardless of how many other pairs of jeans we have hanging in the closet we always gravitate toward the favorite pair, BUT they don't last forever:( Denim tends to wear and tear and its hard to depart with your one pair of loved jeans, you almost feel like you need to have a funeral service for your jeans. Fear no more! There is a solution! DENIM THERAPY...O how I wish I knew about them many years ago!!!

True story (now don't laugh at me:)): I had a pair of jeans that where the only pair that fit me nicely, MY FAVORITE. One day I went to T.J. Maxx, as I was walking along the side of the building towards the entrance, something that was sticking out from the wall ripped my jeans! I panicked, went back to my car, and called my mom balling crying (as if someone had died...in this case-something-my jeans!). My mom immediately thought something happened to me. When I finally told her what had happened she took a deep breath and told me its ok I will find another pair, what is important that I didn't get hurt.

Should my jeans need any repair in the future, I most definitely will be sending my denim to get some THERAPY:)

My Dad...

Whenever I hear the song, "I Loved her First" by Heartland, I get a lump in my throat. I couldn't agree more with the lyrics to this song-"I loved her first and I held her first, and a place in my heart will always be hers, from the first breath she breathed, when she first smiled at me, I knew the love of a father runs deep, and I prayed that she'd find you someday {he continues to that one day I will}..."

Not only do I remember my dad teaching me to ride my first bike, but he also taught me to drive. I will never forget he picked me up from dance class and on the way home he stopped at a Fairgrounds Race Course (currently a subdivision) with a huge empty parking lot, he pulled into the parking lot and told me he was going to teach me how to drive. What I remember about my first driving lesson-I was wearing pink stockings, black leotard and pointe shoes:)

My Dad (Bab in Armenian) has and still continues to work so hard to provide for his family. Although, he wasn't as fortunate growing up, he made sure to give my brother and I all the best he could. He has always supported me and has been there for me in every possible way. Even though my mom and I are best friends, people say I'm a Daddy's girl. My mom even says I always take his side, and I like to defend him (so not true, I don't take sides :)).

and now, the love he has for his granddaughter (now granddaughters) and the way his face lights up when he sees the two little munchkins puts a smile on my face.

Thank you for everything you do for me Dad!
I Love You!!!

 Grandfather (Dede in Armenian) duties:)

I can't believe this was my brother's 2nd Father's Day and now father to two beautiful girls . Seeing him with his daughters melts my heart<3 The girls are definitely going to be Daddy's girls:)

Father's Day is also a day I reflect back at memories I had with my Grandfathers (as well as many other days). I was about 6 years old when I lost both my Grandfather's around the same time. I thank God for giving me the time I did have with them.
In Loving memory of my Dede's

Nautical Stripes...

Sweet Things Diary Photo

Sweet Things Diary Photo
Similar striped dresses can be found at Target (Tank Maxi Dress) and LuLu's (Striped Midi Dress).

Happy Friday! It is definitely summer her in New Orleans, HOT/HUMID and rainy! What else reminds me of summer? Nautical stripes! Last weekend I decided to wear this nautical dress. Since our summers are so hot, I look for clothes that are light weight and comfortable. Finally the forecast for this weekend is going to be sunny, yay no rain!:) Just in time for Father's Day weekend. Hope everyone has a great time this weekend enjoying it with Dad on his day!

This look would have been more complete of its nautical vibe with a red purse; however, I forgot to switch out my purse, I realized after I got in the car. I don't know what I was thinking, o well it happens lol:)

Have a great weekend!!!

Drab to Fab!

I picked up this wicker foot stool at an Estate sale. It was pretty boring before I gave it a makeover:)

I spray painted the wicker with a hot pink color and used a dark walnut stain for the legs. I love how the pink pops against the dark stain!
As accessories complete an outfit, accessories are just as valuable to any room in the house to complete the look of the room.

Peplum Top...

Peplum Tops are seen mostly worn with a pencil skirt or skinny jeans. Try pairing it with a flared skirt. I love how it gives that extra layer to the skirt.
I wore my Peplum top over a dress worn as a skirt.

Have a Great Day,

Best Friends...

Yesterday was Best Friends Day and I wanted to share with ya'll my two best friends...Lindy and Rachel...

We have been friends since high school! Lindy and I met from the first day we started high school, we had Religion class together, and Rachel, Lindy and I became the "trio" closer to the end of our Sophomore year.

Our matching shirts...haha

We even got our first jobs together at Hallmark! How fun working with your best friends:)

Although, we all have busy lives now and live in different places, we still keep in touch and see each other when we can. Its hard to find true quality friends so when you do, hold on to them! I strongly believe quality of your friends is more important than quantity! I am so grateful and blessed to have such great friends who have been there for me through the good times and not so good times. Thank you for being the best friends a girl could ask for!

I also wanted to acknowledge a few of my other close friends...Lisa, Linda, Renee, and Vania! These girls have also been a big part of my life and I thank God for giving me the opportunity to meet them and continue a great friendship with them!

Thanks for being you ladies!
Love ya'll!

Old and New...

This past weekend I ate at a restaurant that closed its doors after 38 years of business and ate at one that just opened its doors.
Tiffin Inn Pancake House was a popular restaurant to many locals! It was sudden news to hear they would close their doors after 38 years due to landlord not renewing its lease, the reason being...Home Goods is taking over, as it is also taking two other spots in the shopping center. Now I am so excited that we are Finally! getting a Home Goods, but also sad that this famous local pancake house had to close. I hope they get to find a new location.
On Sunday (March 31) Tiffin Inn was serving their customers for the last time. We decided to go before they closed the doors. It was a rush in there, loyal customers sad and saying goodbyes and many hugs to the servers that had been working there and grew to know so well. Do to being its last day, food selection was low since they did not stock up so they wouldn't be left with extra food. Almost everything we wanted from the menu they were out of, but we still ended up managing to order way to much food hahah.
I was so hungry I couldn't wait to eat (it took a while to get our food). As soon as the order came I practically inhaled my brunch!

This is what was left when I realized I was going to take a picture of everything!

Menu

On the way out I asked the Manager that was behind the register if I could have a menu, she said I can take one as long as she doesn't see me taking it, she looked behind the counter where the menu was then turned around closed her eyes. I went behind the counter took a menu and told her to have a good day, thanked her and walked out:)

Grouper with Chickpeas

When one door closes another opens, right? A friend and I made plans to check out a new restaurant called Avo that opened on a popular, hip street in the Uptown area -Magazine Street. Fun fact...in Italian, Avo means, ancestors or grandfather, and in Armenian Avo is a males name:)

We sat in the corner by the window

The food was delicious. Will definitely go again.

Weekend Adventures...

This weekend was the New Orleans Oyster Festival. My parents (especially my dad) wanted to go to the festival...but one problem, it poured raining on our way there:( We decided to go to Costco till the rain stops and then continue on to the oyster festival. Another problem, the road to Costco was flooded (as well as many other areas) lol. We seriously felt like we were trapped, anything we attempted to do was just not happening. We turned around and foundd another way to get to Costco. Finally we made it there!

One of my favorite flowers are Peonies, but I can never find them anywhere around here (roses or your typical bunch flowers is all we have). I was surprised to see Calla Lilies {and PINK}, so I wasn't going to pass them up! How pretty are they!?

 Look what else Costco had...

OMG $22,000 for scotch! Even if I had that much money to waste on alcohol (although im not much of a drinker, I don't really like alcohol) I could never! Seriously its like flushing $22,000 down the toilet, literally...I mean you will pee it out anyways, right? lol

Once we left Costco the rain had stopped and took the chance to go to the festival. Guess what? they had to shut down the festival although the rain passed through. No eating oysters for us. Later that night the news showed all the amazing food (oyster based of course) vendors were selling...o how I wish we had some of that! I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

Didn't get to eat oysters but got to eat Orzo Salad with shrimp from Zoes Kitchen...yum, yum!
